About AMIE Course

AMIE is the popular B.Tech level examination for engineering. All the State and the Central Government, UPSC and AICTE recognize it. Candidates passing AMIE examination shall get equal job opportunities as well as the chance of higher education in public and private sectors just like any other BE or B.Tech degree holder. The Institution of Engineers in India is the largest multidisciplinary body of engineers that conducts the exam, prepares the syllabus, and issues certificates. One of the greatest attractions of AMIE is that it allows distance learning program for a recognized degree course in engineering. As the course does not require classmate attendance, candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can become engineering graduates in no time. Some AMIE course also provides AMIE postal class to suitable candidates in India and abroad.

Exam Pattern of AMIE

AMIE exam is held twice a year – Summer Examination and Winter Examination. Exam paper has two sections:

Section A: 3 papers
Section B: 5 papers

Duration of 3 hours is given to complete each paper.

Eligibility for AMIE Exam

Applicants with a 3-year Diploma in Polytechnic or its equivalent in any other branch of engineering may apply for AMIE. There is no restriction of marks for admission.
Candidates who have completed 10+2/PDC/HSC in Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects and a minimum of 45% marks can also appear for the test.
Candidates with academic qualifications equivalent to the aforementioned courses can also apply for AMIE.

Section A - Non-Diploma IEI technician members are only eligible for 6 years based on the date of enrolment. Section A – Diploma IEI senior technician members are only eligible for 6 years based on the date of enrolment. Section B IEI senior technician and technician members who have completed Section A in a respective scheme or have exempted from Section A are eligible for six years of completing Section A. IEI corporate members in any discipline who have not completed section B examination or Graduate in Engineering is eligible for six years from the date of registration of Section B examination.

Important Dates

AMIE Section A & B Exam Scheme AMIE 2023 Summer exams shall be conducted from March 16 2024 to March 22 2024. Exam timings 10 AM to 1 PM 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM

AMIE Exam Counseling

Once a candidate is shortlisted based on performance, he/she has to follow the counseling procedure for college allotment. Counseling is generally scheduled from the first week of April (summer batch) and October (winter batch). When a candidate is called for counseling, he/she must carry the following documents:

Attested photocopies of mark sheets
10^th and 12^th-grade certificates
Original mark sheets of 10^th and 12^th grade for verification purposes
5 colored passport-sized photographs
