Common water cooler problems and how to handle them

Water coolers like any other electronic devices are likely to malfunction from time to time.  But there may not be an immediate need to call an expert technician every time something goes wrong with your water cooler, if you have the expertise to open up the body of the cooler and repair the circuitry or machinery from inside. Here are some common water cooler problems, their probable causes and possible solutions.  If you are unable to handle them at your end, please do call a technician.

#1 Compressor Is Running but Water Dispensed Is Too Cold

  

  • Incorrectly positioned Cold Control Sensor—Try repositioning sensing tube
  • Defective Cold Control—Call technician for replacing the same
  • High Refrigerant Charge—Immediately correct the charge
  • Limited Clearance Space At The Rear Of Cooler--  Move cooler at least three inches away from the wall

 

#2 Compressor Is Running but Water Is Too Warm

 

  • Cold Control Switched off—Adjust cold control
  • Loosening Of Evaporator Band Around Reservoir – Make sure that the evaporator is secure as well as perfectly latched
  • Defective Cold Control—Call technician for replacing the same
  • Blocked Refrigerator Drier—Call technician to replace drier or recharge system

 

#3 Compressor Is Not Running

 

  • Absence Of Power At Receptacle—Check breaker as well as outlet for power
  • Wire Broken Or Came Off Terminal—Have a look at wire diagram and carefully connect accordingly
  • Defective Power Cord—Call a technician to replace the same
  • Burnt Out Overload Or Compressor Relay—Call technician to make replacements

 

#4 Excessive Noise

  • At the time of compressor start up—Its normal nothing to worry about
  • Rattling Tubes—Reposition the tubes present inside the unit
  • Compressor Not Mounted Securely—Secure mounting washers
  • Loose screws—Tightening of the screws required
  • Cooler Damage—Call a technician to repair accordingly

 

#5 Water Faucet Does Not Shut Off

 

 

  • Something Stuck In The Water Cooler Faucet—Try removing the foreign object carefully
  • Leaky Seal—Call a technician to replace the faucet

 

#6 Unable To Dispense Hot Water

  • Hot Tank Switch In OFF Position—Immediately switch it ON
  • Faulty Cut Out In Hot Tank—Have a look at hot tank wiring diagram and carefully make connections accordingly 
  • Tripped Hot Tank Reset—Replacing of thermostat cut out should be done
  • Empty Reservoir—Add water to the reservoir
  • Defective Heater – Call technician to repair accordingly

#7 Unable To Dispense Hot or Cold Water

 

  • Empty Reservoir—Add water to the reservoir
  • Absence Of Power At Receptacle—Check breaker as well as outlet for power
  • Broken Wiring System—Have a look at the wiring diagram and fix wires accordingly
  • Air Lock—Checkair filter, in case it is wet, remove and leave overnight to dry out
