How Big Data Shapes Our Future?

The most valuable and sought-after commodity in the world today is data. To improve our business decisions and daily lives, data is used effectively. The tech giants are provided with free data by us via social media. For the uninitiated, the terms and conditions we fail to read have a clause in it giving them free lease over the use of data we provide them. Although the services they provide us are free, our data is sold in droves to the analytical company to generate tailor-made advertisement campaigns and many more. All the personal data that we provide can be used by the tech companies to their will.

Our names, phone numbers, the kind of pages we like, the photos we upload, the type of posts we like, the sites we visit through search engines, the searches we do, the time we spend on videos, the kind of videos we watch, the quizzes we take, our friends and the geo-tags we add are all collected and collated. This data as a whole is called big data. This can provide companies with the means to target ads at people. A unit of information on a person is called a data point.

An advertising company can buy the data and use the data points to target their ads. An advertisement has a specific target audience. Before data became so valuable, the ads were sent out and they just hoped it would reach the right audience serendipitously. But now that we have enough data point of the population, we can set parameters and reach the target audience easily. With the help of big data, we know what audience likes which kind of content.

  • Content to data points

With big data, we can generate keywords that would be embedded into the content for the target audience. When our target audience enters a keyword into the search engine, the tailored content shows up at the first result. This is called search marketing.

  • Predict upcoming trends

Experts have been able to accurately identify upcoming trends a mile away because of the availability of abundant data at their disposal. It may seem difficult to find things like this out with a single data point but when you have many data points, you can easily see the behavioral patterns that would, in turn, lead to predicting the trends.

  • Accurate analytics

Gone are the days where you have to rely on page views, likes, and followers. With the help of big data, you can drive your content towards strategized goals. You can get more insights that would bring about worthy action points. Big data digs deeper and provides more intelligence than the superficial data available for everyone’s view.

  • Managing customer data better

Having big data is just not enough but you would have to manage your customer data better. You need to know what kind of content engages your audience better and what the interactions that happen with your product are. With these insights, you can categorize your customers and serve them better.

  • Integrating marketing to social media

The insights that a social media platform can provide on the behavior of the consumers combined with the power of big data can help you be more effective.

Although these may sound invasive and we are heading towards a time where we can self-monetize personal data, this is our definite future. We may be slow to embrace but there are absolute rewards who can jump the queue and hop on the big data train. You can always get in touch with experts to know more about it.
