5 Indian engineers who changed their career and became famous

It’s not unfair to say that every parent wants their daughter or son to become an engineer or doctor in India. With more than a million students trying to get admission in engineering college, India is the second largest producer of engineers lacking slightly behind China. With so many engineers in the country, the demand for quality jobs are skyrocketing and it’s hard to cope with the current situation.

Anil Kumble:

One of the best test match bowlers the world has come across. Anil Kumble aka “Jumbo” (Because he has big feet) has been a phenomenal cricketer with numerous awards and records on his name. He was also elected as the Indian national team head coach in 2017. During his debut cricket match in 1990, Anil Kumble was still in studying and graduated from Rashtreeya Vidyalaya College of Engineering (RVCE) with a degree in Mechanical engineering in the academic year of 1991-1992.

Sushant Singh Rajput:

Sushant dropped out of college to pursue acting and we all are happy for his decision to quit engineering. He started his career with the small screen and wowed everyone with his performance in “Pavitra Rishta“. With his first film, he entered the mainstream Bollywood industry and was awarded in multiple ceremonies for his debut performance in Kai Po Che! Apart from his charming looks and elegant acting skills, Sushant was impressing people with his sharp brains which got him admission in the prestigious college of Delhi Technological University.

Chetan Bhagat:

There is no denying to the fact that Chetan Bhagat is one of the most famous Indian novelists. He completed his engineering from IIT (Indian Institute of technology) and MBA for IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Ahmedabad. He went on to become an investment banker in Hong Kong and wrote his first book while working before he decided to become a full-time author.

Taapsee Pannu:

She has gained stardom while working along with like of Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and many more Bollywood and regional film stars. A successful career in the film industry is something millions of us dream about since childhood, but Taapsee, on the other hand, had a different plan. She was a software engineer before she stepped into Bollywood and has a degree in software engineering from the Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of technology.

Ritesh Agarwal:

One of the most successful and youngest Indian millionaire entrepreneur, Ritesh Agarwal is the founder and CEO of the disruptive hospitality business and app Oyo Rooms. In just 4 rounds of 7 investors, the company managed to raise a total of $125 million. Ritesh was pursuing engineering but dropped out of college with no regrets to finish his business plans.
