Lalbhai Dalpatbhai College of Engineering, more popularly known as L.D. College of Engineering, is a leading engineering college in Gujarat, and was established in 1948. It is affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University and offers 14 undergraduate, 17 post graduate and four part-time programs.

Infrastructure

The institute is spread across a 65,000 square meter area and consists of various departments, offices, hostels and library buildings. There are fully equipped modern laboratories that are widely recognized for testing and standardization in the industry. Free Internet facility with good connectivity is available to students and faculty. And, there is a central workshop that is used to impart training in the basic operation of manufacturing and production. The workshop has a CNC machine, an electro-discharge machine and the latest metallurgical instruments. A state-of-the-art library with about 73,000 technical books, 173 journals and a huge collection of handbooks, encyclopedias and reference books is present. There is also a large computing facility with Pentium-based multimedia and a large number of PCs. Apart from this, there are recreation centers for sports and games, a healthcare center, a gymkhana and an NCC camp.  The institute stays abreast with industry happenings through consultancy projects, expert lectures, investigations and seminars.

Placement

The institute has a training and placement cell that caters to the job and training requirements of students. It helps faculty members maintain valuable networks with alumni and potential employers as well as prepare students for interviews. Some of the major recruiters are L&T, Tata Chemicals, TCS, MphasiS, Adani, Mahindra, Essar, Gujarat gas, Siemens and Tata Motors.

Eligibility

  • For UG Programs - Candidates should have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and a minimum aggregate of 60%.
  • For PG Programs - Candidates should have a B. E/B. Tech/BCA degree from a recognized university

Selection Criteria

  • Students are admitted to the B. Tech programs based on scores in the Gujarat CET examination.
  • Students are admitted to the M. Tech courses based on their rank in GATE.
