GMAT Analytical writing assessment syllabus
This is the first section of the GMAT exam and generally has an argument essay or an issue essay. The topics could be of any interest. This section tests how well a candidate can interpret the author’s perspective.
Argument essay
The candidate must read the given paragraph, analyze, observe the irregularities, and present your argument in 350 words.
Issue essay
A specific topic would be given in the form of one or 2 line statement. The candidate has to write a 600 word either supporting the statement or by setting a counter opinion. The opinion must be presented in an organized, structured manner with suitable examples and logic.
GMAT Integrated reasoning syllabus
This is the latest addition in the GMAT exam test with 12 questions. The candidate must evaluate the data presented in various formats such as table format, graph etc.
Multi-source reasoning:
The candidate will be given data in multiple formats such as graphics, texts, passages etc. The candidate must evaluate whether the data is important, analyze and draw inferences if asked.
Table analysis:
This examines the candidate’s ability to sort and interpret a table with data and determine if it meets the given conditions.
Two-part analysis:
This would include a combination of verbal as well as quantitative problems.
Graphics interpretation-
It checks candidate’s ability to interpret the data provided in the graph, bar chart, pie chart band find out relationships, make inferences etc.
GMAT Quantitative reasoning syllabus
The Quantitative section mainly has two sections- Problem-solving and data sufficiency. A total of 36 questions will be given. These are objective questions with multiple choice answers.
Problem-solving
These problems examine candidate's skills to use logical and analytical reasoning to solve complex quantitative problems.
Data sufficiency
These problems check the candidate’s ability to identify and interpret which data is important and how much sufficient data is available to solve the problem.

GMAT Verbal reasoning Syllabus
This section has 36 multiple choice questions and measures the candidate’s skills to comprehend the written passage, rectify the grammatical errors, and to improve the efficiency of the written content.
Reading comprehension
The candidate will be judged on skills such as understanding logical relationships, drawing inferences, understanding words and statements, and more.
Critical reasoning
It examines the candidate’s ability to interpret arguments, make arguments, and make a plan of action. A passage will be provided, and the candidate must provide a premise and a conclusion.
Sentence correction
This section checks the candidate’s language proficiency. The candidate must identify grammatical mistakes and rectify them. Additionally, the candidate will also be asked to effectively express or elevate the sentence formation using the right set of words and grammatical knowledge.
