The Civil Construction industry is made up of the companies, individuals, and resources involved in planning, designing, and constructing Australia’s civil infrastructure. “Construction” means we are involved in building things…normally very big things. BUT don’t call a person in this industry a “builder” – they won’t see it as a positive. The “Civil” word relates to the fact that most of our work is funded by governments – about 70% of it. Many in the industry just do private work, like land development, but for most, it’s about public infrastructure. To put it all another way, “miners” go deep underground, “builders” go up into the air, and “civil contractors” go along the surface. -->Sand is a granular material composed of finely divided rock and mineral particles. It is defined by size, being finer than gravel and coarser than silt. Sand can also refer to a textural class of soil or soil type; i.e., a soil containing more than 85 percent sand-sized particles by mass.
