About NEET exam
The National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) is an all-India medical entrance exam conducted by NTA. The NEET exam aims to enable students to seek admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, and BHM. NEET exam is accepted in different medical institutes in India. It is now the only medical entrance exam. Thus, it is vital to meet the NEET eligibility criteria to pursue a medical career.
NEET Eligibility
The official notification from NMA specified various eligibility alterations and additions. The NEET exam criteria are,
- The age limit for NEET was removed. So any candidate above 17 years can apply for NEET.
- Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as core subjects.
- For NEET 2023, candidates must be at least 17 years old.
- There are no restrictions on the maximum NEET exam attempt for aspirants.
- A reservation of 3% will be provided for specially-abled (PWD) candidates.
- Students must secure 40% to 45% in class 12 to qualify for the NEET exam.
- NRIs, OCIs, PIOs, and Foreign national students are eligible to apply for NEET.
NEET Application Form
The NTA has released the official NEET UG application form. Visit the official website (https://neet.nta.nic.in/) and submit the application form. The steps to apply for NEET UG are as follows,
- Visit the official NTA NEET website.
- Find the NEET UG 2023 section.
- Carefully read the eligibility details from the official notification
- Click the NEET UG 2023 apply online link to open the form
- Fill in the required details in the application.
- Scan and upload all the documents as asked by the board
- Upload your signature and a recent color passport-size photo. Click the submit option.
- Review the application and download the file
- Take a physical print of the application for future reference.
NEET Admit Card
The NTA releases the NEET admit card. The hall ticket will be available on the official website with a direct link to a page. This document plays an important role in various admission processes. Also, candidates can download another copy from the official site if they misplace their admit card. Double-check the following before downloading the admit card,
- Candidate name
- Father's name
- D.O.B, Gender
- Application number
- Roll number
- QR code
- Language of question paper
- Exam center number
- Passport size photograph
- Signature and IP address of downloaded admit card
NEET Exam Pattern
Candidates appearing for NEET 2023 must be well-versed in the exam pattern, which can help their preparation. The total NEET exam duration is 3 hours and 20 minutes. NEET exam supports only offline mode (paper-based exam). The paper consists of 200 questions, of which 180 are MCQs from Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. Each question weighs 4 marks; for every error, there is a 1-mark deduction. The following is the section-wise pattern,
- Section A - 35 Questions x 4 = 140 marks
- Section B - 14 Questions x 4 = 40 marks
- 180 marks (Physics, Chemistry), 360 marks (Biology)
NEET exam supports 13 Indian languages, enabling students to choose their native or preferred language. The subject-wise question pattern is as follows,
- Physics - 45 questions
- Chemistry - 45 questions
- Biology - 90 questions
NEET Exam Date
As per the official announcement from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the NEET exam 2023 is scheduled on May 7, 2023. Students can start with the application from January 2023 and submit it before the last week of this month. The result will be announced in 1st week of June 2023, and the following counseling process from 2nd week of June.
However, the exam date may reschedule based on external factors.
NEET Syllabus
The NEET 2023 exam syllabus is notified by the NMC and is available on the official website (https://www.nmc.org.in/).

NEET Physics Syllabus
- Class 11 - Physical world and measurement, Kinematics, Work, Energy, Power, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, System motions, particles, and Laws of Motion.
- Class 12 - Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Optics, Electromagnetic waves, Electronic devices, Atoms and Nuclei, Dual Matter and Radiation, and Alternating Currents.
NEET Chemistry Syllabus
Class 11 - Basics of Chemistry, Atom structure, Chemical bonding, Molecular structure, Matter - Gases and Liquid, Thermodynamics. P-Block and S-Block elements, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.
Class 12 - Solid state, Electrochemistry, Chemical kinetics, Surface Chemistry, P, D, F block elements, Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers. Biomolecules, Polymers, and Isolation and elements.
NEET Biology Syllabus
Class 11 - Diversity in the living world, Cell structure and Function, Plan Psychology, Human Physiology
Class 12 - Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human welfare, Biotech applications, Ecology, and environment.

Download the file from the site by clicking the link. Get redirected to another page where you'll be asked to log in using the application number and password / D.O.B.

NEET Cut off
The latest NEET UG 2023 update shows that the cut-off for the general category is 50%. While for SC/ST/OBC and general-PH aspirants, the NEET cut-off is between 40-45%, respectively. The NEET cut-off passing marks for the general category is 715- 117, while for SC/ST/OBS is 116-93.
NEET Counselling Process
NEET UG 2023 counseling process starts in the 2nd week of June, after the exam result. It comprises four rounds. They are,
- Round 1 - Registration, Choice Filling, Verification, Seat allotment, Provisional result, Final result,
- Round 2 - Fresh registration, Payment, Seat Locking, Result, Report to allotted university
- Mop-Up Round - Registration/{Payment, Verification, Seat Allotment, Result,

1260 medical colleges in India accept NEET UG 2023 scores. 15% admissions of the entire medical seats are allotted for merit students under All-India Quota.
