Good nursing care for old people
During my father's last days, it was impossible to sustain him at home due to his system not responding to oral BP medication. His diastolic reached 110 often and had to be controlled with IV medication in order to prevent further brain bleeds. The nurses were very kind, loving and attentive to him. The doctors and management supported him and also helped my mum & self cope with the situation. Even when dad could not swallow, they ground the food specially for him and kept him healthy by tube feeding. I respect their security systems, hygiene and protection of patients. Their professionalism and timely medical care saved my dad from subsequent bleeds. Unfortunately dad's system succumbed and he passed away. We cannot thank Rishi Aalayam enough for their professional care. The nurses are earth angels. May God bless this place abundantly. Taking care of terminally ill patients is not easy, but they do an amazing job. The Lobo Family

The staff of Mahathmaa's Rishi Aalayam, that is, the young ladies who cared for my late sister and their director, Miss Sridevi Nandagopal, will forever be in my heart and memory for their selfless, loving and dedicated service to my sister in her most challenging years as an MS (multiple-sclerosis) patient. Rishi Aalayam is more than a home away from home for in addition to the routine services which are delivered with the same level of love, attention and care as provided by family, the institution is well equipped to provide competent in-house medical support. Medical emergencies requiring hospitalisation are attended to promptly and efficiently. In particular, Miss Sridevi in her role as a Director, is a highly competent, reliable, organised, well-informed and understanding person. She is available to contact any time of the day and this made all the difference to an otherwise stressful and complicated situation.
Though this varies from place to place, most old age homes at least have a reading room, a television and a medical team. Some old age homes engage their residents in activities to keep them busy throughout the day. They are usually provided with healthy food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Most old age homes have an equipped medical team present to handle all medical emergencies. If the situation escalates, they would also immediately notify the emergency contact person noted during admission.
This depends on the type and seriousness of the ailment or disease. Most old age homes don’t object to minor ailments in their residents. In case of serious or communicable diseases, some old age homes might not be equipped enough to handle such issues. Discuss this with the old age home before seeking admission.
