Waking up to Foggy mornings, warm cups of aromatic coffee, and thunderous skies rumbling harmoniously while you can hear the rain pattering down on the road is one of the tranquil essences of the winter season in India. Enjoy the season and embrace its serenity by capturing pictures that amaze people and acquiring new memorable moments. Capture the winter world in your own unique way. Here are some ideas you can try out this winter.

Play with Puddles
Once the sky is clear of rain clouds, you can find the city streets filled with puddles of water. Take advantage of these small pools of water and play around with them. Since they act like natural mirrors on flat surfaces and create reflections that look ethereal when captured well.

You can often see this technique being used by photographers and filmmakers. Usually, this effect is replicated by pouring some water onto flat surfaces. You can also do the same to capture striking pictures through the reflections. This technique can also capture a futuristic and otherworldly picture in settings such as crowded metropolitan at night.

Illuminate your Moment
It can be difficult to capture visible raindrops due to the lack of light. A technique you can use to solve this is adding some backlight to your shot. You can either place your backlight or use some naturally occurring light as your backlight; the decision belongs to you and the moment you are trying to capture.

If you are capturing a subject of your preference with a type of shot in your mind, it is best to use your source of backlight by setting up a camera flash. You can use lamp posts, car lights, light from the sky, or any light source if you are trying to capture a moment as it is.

Capture the Essence
It is okay to avoid capturing the rain on its own; sometimes, you can capture the rain's essence without actually capturing it. The essence remains in clues that indicate that it’s raining. A good way to represent the rain is to capture wet streets, umbrellas, rain jackets, and puddles.

A normal scene on a roadway or an intersection will completely alter once it’s filled with umbrellas. Busy streets completely transform once it starts to rain. Capture those moments.

Bad Weather Does Not Mean Bad Pictures

Don’t hesitate to capture a portrait in the rain or bad weather. Often cold and wet atmospheres tend to create one of the most beautiful and moody pictures with soft lighting.

This technique can also be used in situations where you head out to a photo shoot, and the weather turns out bad. Instead of packing up and giving up on the photo shoot, you can use the bad weather and shift the shoot's mood. You can even get the most powerful picture you have ever captured; ensure you stay safe and dry.

Keep an Eye For Rainbows
It is common for Rainbows to appear when the sun shows up when there is still moisture in the air, which is often during the rainy winter season. Use this colorful arc to your advantage and spice up your pictures with these. Just make sure you look out for the Rainbow when the rain has left and the sun is out.

Brew Your Creativity Along with The Storm
Mother Nature is one of the world’s best artists. She has a lot of drastic art pieces right in front of you. Make sure you capture them.

It is highly recommended that you get to safety once a storm approaches. Only try to capture the storm if the storm has passed the locality you are in. always stay at a safe distance and ensure that your camera's aperture and exposure timing are set in a proper setting to capture thunder and the storm. If the settings are improper, you will not be able to capture proper pictures.
