Who would have thought that a blank wall would make a young `crazy coder’ launch a business in home decor? But then successful people think differently. And that’s how 25 year old Shashank Mishra became a proud owner and entrepreneur with India’s first online wall decal store ‘doDecals.com’ launched a few days back.

``Wall decals are easy to stick, affordable, removable wall stickers that beautify our houses’’ says Shashank. 

``It is a unique concept in India not yet caught on and since we want to give the best to the country,  we set up our own manufacturing unit and are today able to offer high quality vinyl wall decals at a very affordable rate of Rs 389’’, he adds. 

The idea for an easy but classy way to do up walls of homes came when Shashank was looking for an artist to do something on his blank wall. ``I consulted so many, but none were able to help me; either the ideas were not good enough or it was out of my budget...you won't believe...a wall artist asked me Rs 25,000 to paint and design one single wall! Finally I thought of something which can decorate my walls instantly and so the idea of wall decals came to my mind’’, he says. 

Keeping a strict focus on the affordability and the artistic factors in the project, Shashank took extra pains to set up a unit in Tirupur.  He says he was lucky to get a partner in Dr Amit who is a doctor by profession but is like him, a `geek coder’ who loves to dabble in ``Facebook app development and a true javascript ninja’’. He is also helped in his efforts by Priti Singh, who is the editor of the blog part of his website.

The first online wall decal store will be offering quick service and free installation in cities like Chennai and Bangalore. ``We noticed that all online stores want to sell everything. We are not going to do so. We shall stick with wall decals alone. I want to change the notion that interior decoration is expensive’’, Shashank insists.
