Sulekha and Penguin India's global contest for humour writing

SULEKHA and Penguin India announced "India Smiles", an open contest on can enter by submitting a humorous piece, whether a fiction story or a nonfiction essay. The contest is sponsored by media organizations of MSN India, readers Digest, New India Express and Fabmall. Satya Prabhakar, CEO of Sulekha.com, said, "Out goal is quite simple: search for smoke out and put the spotlight on great writing talent no matter where it is hiding in this world. Sulekha and Penguin India are committed to providing an easy and equal opportunity to any talented writer to gain fame and fortune."

Sulekha's global community of over a million members will help select a shortlist of 60 out of the expected thousands of entries. The eminent panel of Khustwant Singh, Farouque Shaikh, Ruskin Bond, Geetha Doctor, Anita Nair, Ashok Mahadevan and Sushila Ravidranath will select 30 entries to be published by Penguin India. They will also select the best three entries will the best entry receiving Rs. 1 lakh or $2000 in prize money and the two runners up receiving Rs. 10, 000 or $200 each.
