Board Exams 2014: Tips and Tricks!
With various board exams around the corner, it’s high time for students to go full steam ahead on their study plan. If you’re one of those students who are yet to revise the subjects, you need to get started before it is too late. Here are some quick tips.
Plan it
Plan your revision according to the number of subjects to be covered and the time available till the exam date. Stick to your study plan, no matter what!
Keep things ready
Make sure you keep the necessary books, sample question papers and study materials ready before you sit for studying. Getting out of your study table every now and then in search of study materials may divert your attention to other things.
Location matters!
Pick an appropriate place for preparation. If your home holds folks of the noisy kind, or if it is prone to outside noise, then you should find some other place for studying. It is advisable to go for quiet, public places, viz.: Libraries, Study Centers, and the like. This will also help you to keep away from modern day distractions, like FBing, Googling, Binging, Tweeting, SmartPhoning, and also classic couch potato activities, like TV-watching, PC-gaming and many others!
Mock Tests
Take mock tests using previous year question papers and analyze the areas that you are weak at. After completing a particular chapter, check the questions asked at the end of the lesson in the text book, and try to answer them on a separate sheet of paper. If you are unable to reproduce the answers, then you will have to allot additional time for revision as required.
Take breaks and try some variety!
It is outright impossible to study for long hours and not feel lethargic or bored. You will have to take a few breaks in between to avoid fatigue. And, to avoid boredom, I would suggest that you cover various types of subjects in alternation, rather than attempting to complete an entire subject in one go.
Coaching Classes
Getting enrolled with an Exam coaching institute helps, as you get the opportunity to get in touch with peers. This way, you gain easy access to study materials, books, previous years’ question papers etc. You can also interact with the teacher and get your doubts cleared then and there.
Stay Fit
Take care of your health. You have probably heard this before, but that’s because it is worth reminding you any number of times. Avoid junk foods and go for the fresh fruits and veggies. Drink plenty of water and keep yourself well-hydrated. You can also participate in exercise and physical fitness activities to stay in shape. But, don’t overdo it; you don’t want to be too tired for studies.
Sleep Well
Before I finish, there is another important matter that I would like to stress upon. Make sure you get adequate sleep. Burning the midnight oil is only going to increase stress and fatigue during the few days leading up to your D-Day. So, plan in advance and try to cover as much as possible during day time, rather than studying in the night, disturbing your sleep pattern, and ending up snoring in the exam hall!
All the best for your exams!
