CAT Eligibility
There are specific eligibility criteria that a candidate should qualify to appear for CAT exams.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from any recognized university is mandatory
- Candidates from the general category should have an aggregate mark of 50%
- SC/ST/PwD candidates can apply with 45% marks
- Candidates in their final year can appear for the exams
- There is no upper or lower age limit
CAT Application form

CAT Exam date
The date of the examination is yet to be announced by IIM. Usually, CAT exams will be held on the last Sunday of November. So, the predicted date of examination could be November 26, 2023. However, IIM will officially announce the CAT exam date before July 21, 2023.
CAT syllabus
IIM, the conducting body of the CAT exam, announces no static syllabus. However, the topics from where questions were being asked in the previous years are listed,
- Verbal and Reading Comprehension (VARC)- Verbal Ability, English Usage or Grammar, Close Passage, Synonyms Antonyms, Facts-inferences-judgments, Jumbled Paragraphs, Reading Comprehension, and Verbal Reasoning.
- Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)- Case lets, Blood Relation, Calendars, Bar Graphs, Column Graphs, Tables, Cubes, Clocks, Binary Logic, Line Charts, Combination of two or more types linked to each other, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams, Pie Chart, Number and Letter Series, and Seating Arrangement.
- Quantitative Aptitude (QA)- Algebra, Higher Maths, Geometry, Trigonometry, Mensuration, and Arithmetic.
CAT Result
The results for CAT 2023 will be announced in the 3rd week of December 2023 (tentative). Once the results are announced, the candidates can download their scorecards from the official website. These CAT scores are valid for admission till 2024.
CAT Answer Key
Based on previous years’ trends, the answer key might be released in the 1st week of December 2023. The date to challenge CAT 2023 answer key might start in the first week of December and end at the beginning of the second week. The final answer key might be released in the third week of December 2023.

CAT Counselling Process
- The candidates who qualified the exams should update their CAT scores on the website of IIM as per their preference.
- The cut-off marks of candidates are evaluated against the final cut-off to filter students who could attend writing ability tests and personal interviews.
- Eligible candidates will receive a call letter to the registered mail id with the date, venue, and slot of WAT and PI.
