The good news for PTE Academic examination aspirants is the fact that the examination is conducted all year round. This is the reason why it is such a popular examination. The flexibility in taking the examination allows candidates to be completely relaxed regarding the examination booking and pick a date that suits their preparation levels.
However, it’s not advised to leave the examination booking till the last minute for the PTE Academic examination as the slots fill up really quickly. Here are a few tips that candidates can use for a hassle-free experience with regards to selecting the date of examination.
Candidates Should Book the Examinations at Least 6 Months in Advance:
The PTE examinations are popular examinations that are attempted by huge numbers across the country. As a result, candidates are not advised to leave it till the last minute. In fact, they should complete the examination booking with at least 6 months’ time on their hands to prepare for the examination.
Booking six months in advance also gives time to the candidates to brush up their English skills. As the syllabus consists of four core components, reading, speaking, writing and listening, candidates who aren’t particularly strong in English communicative skills need enough time to cover everything required for a solid attempt. This is why a booking six months in advance is recommended.
Book the Right Examination:
There are two PTE examinations and the two of them are scheduled differently by the conducting body. While the more popular PTE Academic examination is conducted year-round, the less popular PTE General examination is conducted thrice every year.
If you are studying in 10th grade and want to shift abroad for your higher education, then the PTE Academic examination is the right examination for you. However, if employment in a foreign country is your priority, then the PTE General examination would be the one to attend for you.
Unlike the PTE Academic examination, the PTE General examination is conducted by the conducting body only three times each year. The examination is conducted once in the months of May, June, and December.
Candidates Should Look for their Nearest PTE Test Centres:
All PTE examinations are conducted across PTE designated test centres, which candidates can get to know about through the official website.
It would be in the best interests of the candidates to book slots at the designated test centres nearest to their places of residence. In case candidates find their preferred test centre filled for a particular date, they can look at other test centres that they can reach without compromising convenience and comfort.
This is also a reason why candidates need to book the examination well in advance, particularly in populated regions, as the nearest test centres may get filled up fast.
Take a Look at the Closing Date of Admission in Your Preferred Colleges and Universities:
As you can directly send your PTE examination results to your chosen colleges and universities abroad, you should also pay attention to the admission dates of the colleges and universities that you would prefer studying in.
Note:Late registration is available for students who register through online only for a fee of US $ 25.
For example, if the college of your choice closes admissions in May, then you would effectively have to wait a year for admission even if you clear the PTE Academic examination in June with high scores.
