Sentimental Items
Moving from one place to another requires you to go through the tiring process of packing all your belongings. Proper packing ensures your goods are transported and relocated safely without any damage. But not every thing in your home can be packed while moving.
Perishable Items
Food and plants should not be packed if you are a long distance mover. They can easily spoil or die if they are not especially cared for. Refrigerators and freezers should be emptied of all perishable items 24 hours before they are moved.
Valuable Items
Important papers, objects and information that you need on hand should be carried with you rather than sending them away packed in a box. These items include cameras, address books, financial records, airline tickets, medical records, cheque books, jewellery, etc.
Sentimental Items
People have sentimental attachment to several items such as photo albums which may not be valuable in the monetary sense.
These items may be very difficult to replace if they are lost. So these items should not be packed and moved along with other items. You should move them personally.
Hazardous Goods
Materials such as kerosene, acids, chemistry sets, pool chemicals aerosols, ammunitions, paint thinner, fireworks and matches are explosive or flammable. It is dangerous and illegal to move such items.
They can cause physical effects such as convulsion, cancer and burns. Most moving companies will not allow moving such things but if there is only a short distance they may agree to it.
Sharp Objects
Sharp objects can damage other items and can be dangerous for you to handle. These items are dangerous, so leave it to the professionals to pack them. Slicing and dicing equipment, knives and other appliances with sharp edges and blades need to be packed specially.
