Varshikaacademy is the brainchild of Vijaya Lakshmi and Kannan who have been in the field of music for over twenty years. Vijaya Lakshmi and Kannan began their musical journey by going to the homes of students to impart musical training to students. Driven by the passion for music and with the vision of spreading ‘culture through music’, the duo decided to set up the academy to impart musical knowledge to students in Chennai. Varshika Academy is the culmination of the duo’s struggle to establish a platform where musical training of various forms can be imparted under one roof. Vijaya Lakshmi has over twelve years of experience in music. Blessed with a keen ear for music and skills to match, She began her musical sojourn at a very early age. She honed her musical skills and over time she gained the expertise to perform in shows, composing and teaching. She has taken part in various Sabha programs, concerts and private shows. She is also proficient in playing the keyboard. Her profound passion and love for music has helped her to play difficult pieces of music in a historically accurate way. Vijaya Lakshmi is a disciplined and a self-motivated person who believes that ‘practice makes perfect.’ Her unstinted perseverance and boundless energy has made her an excellent performer. She can be aptly described as a person who has the unmatched ability to express herself through music. She is what you can call a true believer of the thought that ‘music is the food for the soul.’ Her passion for music, patience and perseverance make her the ideal mentor and guide.
