The prescribed Syllabus of NTSE is based on class 10 of NCERT. Students should thoroughly prepare each and every topic for the exam. NTSE has multiple-choice questions. It has subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Science, English, General Knowledge, and Mental Ability syllabus. Mathematics Syllabus The Mathematics section has 30 questions with topics from class 6 to 10. The students who appear for NTSE are very young students. Thus, they must follow any instructions given to them, in case of difficulty in understanding any direction they should ask the guards present in the room and not other candidates. They must follow a set of guidelines when appearing for the exam.
Any type of gadget, watches, and calculators are not to be taken inside the exam center.
The exam has two levels; each level is subdivided into a mental ability test and scholastic aptitude test. The mode of the exam is offline, pen and paper-based. It can be answered in either English or Hindi. Every correct answer carries 1 mark. There is no system of negative marking, and the candidates should take advantage of it. 120 minutes of time is allowed for each part of the exam. Upon clearing stage 1, the candidates are selected for stage 2. Level 1 is competitively easier than level 2. Candidates who are through with their syllabus should be able to clear the examination.
There are about one thousand scholarships that are awarded for different stages of education. They are as follows.
Annually approximately 1,200,000 to 1,400,000 students take this particular examination. Out of them, only 5000 students get through for stage 2. From the 5000 students, only 1000 candidates will receive the scholarship
