GRE, like the other popular international standardized tests, doesn’t have any fixed dates for taking the exam in a year. Students are given the complete liberty to choose their preferred dates and test centers for the GRE exam all around the year. The GRE exam is regularly conducted at the Prometric test centers throughout the year in India. However, only limited test dates are given at the GRE exam centers that are outside the Prometric Network. In this case, the students are required to check the availability of the GRE test date before registration.
ETS website lists the available GRE test dates and exam centers. It is not necessary for students to create an ETS account to search for the availability of test dates, except the user profile with ETS for online registration.
Steps to Select GRE Exam Dates and Location
The candidates can schedule for the GRE exam through different methods: online, via email or through the telephone and fax. However, note that the online registration is the best mode for registration as is the most efficient method and it ensures high guarantee. Candidates, while selecting the exam date, should ensure they receive the GRE test scores on time as per the college application deadline.
GRE Test Dates 2021
Here is a list of dates for the GRE General Test for 2021.
You can take the GRE General Test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.

You can take the GRE Subject Test thrice a year in the months of April, September, and October 21
Note:Late registration is available for students who register through online only for a fee of US $ 25.
GRE Score Results
The GRE score results are sent to the preferred colleges/universities 10-15 days after the exam date. The candidates can retake the GRE test only after the 21 days of the first attempt and up to a maximum of 5 times in a year.
GRE Score Validity
Note that the GRE scores are valid for a period for 5 years from the date you’ve taken the test unlike TOEFL scores which are only valid for a couple of years. For instance, if a candidate takes the GRE exam on or after June 5, 2019, his/her score is valid up to June 4, 2024. In case if the student takes the test before June 1, 2019, the GRE scores are valid till the following year, i.e. May 31, 2024.
