Chennai, India, May 22, 2014: As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt Ltd (Grundfos India) recently organized an employee-driven community initiative across its offices in India. The company identified local NGOs (orphanages and old age homes) and requested them for a ‘Wish List’. The wish list included provisions (food, toiletries, and nutritional supplements) and other items like school supplies and clothes. Employees from the respective offices were requested to contribute items from these wish lists. The activities undertaken by each of these offices as a part of this employee-giving drive included:

Bangalore: The employees donated school bags for the children at Sri Chowdappa Geetha Ashrama, an orphanage which takes care of orphans, physically challenged and children of single parents from economically weaker sections of the society.Chennai: At the company’s headquarters in India, the employees donated a month’s worth of provisions to Nethrodaya, a self-help institution for the differently abled and Nandeeswarar Children Welfare Trust, a home that houses more than 20 children from four years of age and above.Delhi: Mouksh Foundation runs a school for underprivileged children. Despite the school not charging any fees, they were struggling to get the students to attend class. Hence, in order to encourage them to attend school, the foundation now provides mid-day meals to the students. Grundfos India’s employees donated food items and children’s clothing to this school.Hyderabad: Provisions and stationery items were donated by the employees to the Society for Solidarity and Reconstruction, a residential hostel for orphans and semi-orphans from six years and above.Mumbai: Employees donated provision items and clothes to Maa Niketan - a home for girls and Sadguru Seva Trust - a home for boys.Commenting on this initiative, Mahathi Parashuram, Head – Public Affairs, Grundfos India, said “Over the years, Grundfos India has been working closely with various NGOs and local communities. Through this CSR initiative, we wanted to connect two key elements – our employees with the communities. This employee giving drive gave our teams across the country an opportunity to engage directly and help the underprivileged within their local communities. There was an overwhelming response from our employees to this initiative and we are happy to have as a team helped hundreds of children and elderly”.
