Institute of Management Study began its curriculum from July 2006. It is one of the new-age B-schools, set-up with the objective to provide Undergraduates well as Postgraduate programmes in Management and Computer Application under the affiliation of recognised University. The Institute started its maiden batch of BBA and BCA programmes in 2006 under the affiliation of the West Bengal University of Technology. IMS is a coeducational institution providing equal opportunity in all respect to impart quality education for building up managers, teachers and researchers for the industry, academia and the nation as a whole. The institute started its maiden batch of Postgraduate programme in Management MBA under the West Bengal University of Technology. The foundation stone of the institute was laid down by Honorable Minister of Sundarban Development, Sri Kanti Ganguly - Government of West Bengal, in the presence of Fr P. C. Matthew, Principal of St. Xavier's College. The institute is a constituent unit of Saha Education Society, Lake Gardens, a Non-Profit Making Society registered under Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961 No. S/IL/ 16378 of 2003 - 2004, established in 2003 to promote Education, Research and Training. The institute provides at present BBA (Hons), BCA, MBA and MBA courses. The founders of the Institute are well experienced in academics and industry, which is essential to run a management programme successfully. Management Education has seen a sea change over the last decade. The most significant among these have been the introduction of management programme at the undergraduate level. Initially, management education was required mainly to impart training to professionals like Engineers, Cost Accountants, Chartered Accountants, and so on, but with the passage and progression of time, there is a growing need for managers in all walks of life and management education. Thus spread its wings in the undergraduate levels as well. Eventually, the new high school graduates can now take up professional courses like BBA, BCA, MBA, etc. which are as popular as engineering, medicine, law and others. Institute of Management Study has taken up this opportunity and introduced BBA (Hons) and BCA courses at the undergraduate level and MBA courses at the Postgraduate level. The BBA (Hons) programme provides specialisation in management and BCA programme offers a speciality in computers, both of which are in great demand in the industry today. After graduating with either BBA or BCA, students can immediately take up jobs in the industry or go in for higher studies, i.e. MBA. IMS does not only provide quality theoretical knowledge but also best possible industrial training and placement opportunities for all its students. The basic idea is to generate professional business graduates and computer specialists, and to groom each one of the students in such a way so that the industry and academia can quickly absorb them in their respective areas. IMS aims at shaping the fundamental character of an individual through quality education, who will in turn help to build the future of our country.
