Saraswati Music College was established in 1924 at Lahore by its founding Principal, Late Shri Bansilal Kapoor, a disciple of the veteran musician, Late Pandit Maniram ji of Mewati Gharana. The institution moved to Delhi after partition. The institution is one of the oldest and among the most reputed ones in the field. It is run by a registered Society, a non-profit earning body. It has been providing training in Hindustani and Western Music, Indian Dances, Arts and Crafts.It is affiliated to Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad and conducts examinations to MA(Music). Saraswati Music College is among the oldest and the most reputed schools of Indian & Western music, dance and other art forms in Delhi. Having produced musicians of excellent reputation, such as Padma Vibhushan Pt.Jasraj, playback singer Mohd. Rafi, music director Shri.O.P.Nayyar, etc., the institute has grown into an establishment contributing to cultural development through education in various disciplines of arts. It has been organising various cultural events/mega star-shows in India and around the world. Under the aegis of Shri Balram Saini, who took the mantle from the founder, the institution has grown and evolved both in size and scope of activities. Under his vision, not only did the Institute organise many cultural and star-studded events around the world, but also expanded its operations with a new building with modern facilities and brought forth international fame to Indian music.
