The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) exams are considered the toughest tests to crack. Exam Pattern for UPSC 2023
IAS Prelims exam consists of two papers, (i) General Studies Paper I and, (ii) General Studies Paper II(CSAT). The marks obtained in the General Studies paper will be considered for the Prelims cutoff. There is also negative marking for the wrong answers. 1/3rd marks assigned to that questions would be reduced as a penalty for wrong answers. However, if the candidate doesn’t attempt the question, there will be no deductions made

Some important points to consider before writing UPSC Prelims Exam 2023
It is mandatory that the candidate should appear for both the exams, General Studies and CSAT to qualify for the UPSC Main Exam.
The score obtained for the Prelims exam will not be added to the final score. This exam is for screening the candidate.
The question paper of Prelims is bilingual, it will carry questions written both in Hindi and English language.
There is a negative marketing of 1/3rd for every incorrect answers for both papers, General Studies and CSAT.
UPSC Main Exam Pattern 2023
The UPSC CSE Main consists of two types of papers, (i) Paper A and Paper B, and (ii) Paper I to Paper IV. The questions would be descriptive in nature, there would be 9 theoretical papers among which there are 4 general studies papers, 2 language papers, 1 essay paper, and 2 optional subject papers.
