The city of Chennai will forever carry a mental association with long beaches, temples, silk sarees and other such indelible marks of its heritage and culture. The handful of hotels, from the early years of independence and even earlier, are amongst these proud institutions that represent a living connection to a different and more elegant time. We, at Udipi Home, have sought to consciously maintain and nurture this connection, ignoring the temptation to turn to formulaic patterns of modern commercial hospitality. It has been our firm belief that traditional warmth and attention to detail may seem to have gone out of fashion but have never truly lost style. Situated in Egmore, the bustling epicentre of the city, and a stone’s throw away from all major transport hubs, Udipi Home, “is not only situated in the heart of the city; it has captured it as well” as one of our customers had once occasion to remark. While maintaining a fastidious adherence to traditional values remains our priority, this has never turned into an excuse for refraining from embracing advancements in the hospitality industry. On the contrary, we have several times taken the lead in embracing the benefits of technology, as a cursory glance at our rooms will establish. The modern facilities such as LCD television, air-conditioning and refrigeration have been seamlessly assimilated into our rooms while the structure and charm of older architecture has been retained. A state-of-the-art business centre, safety lockers, travel desks are other instances of a happy marriage between two seemingly conflicting influences. As famous as Udipi Home is, the people of Chennai may be forgiven for knowing the junction between Halls Road and Police Commissioner’s Office as Mathsya alone. Our multi-cuisine, famous especially for its South Indian and Udipi fare, has long been the favourite of both the discerning food critic and the average man’s tastebuds. Open till the ungodly hour of 2 am, the restaurant has been hailed by popular dailies as serving “food of the Gods”. Chennai, in general, and Udipi Home, in particular, has long been a base camp for religious and cultural tours across South India, especially the holy pilgrimage for a darshan of Tirupati Balaji and our travels desk is well acquainted with organising such tours. We are also the stop-over of choice en route to the Andaman and Nicobar islands, Mahabalipuram and other popular South Indian tourist destinations. We invite you to experience the best of modern convenience and old-world charm; to a hotel which captures all that is laudable in both Madras and Chennai; to Udipi Home, a home away from home.
"Mathsya Egmore is a must visit for food lovers.. though it serves only veg food.. Even People who are non vegetarians can try it for a change and i bet they will not complain. The ambience of the place is good with good interiors and lighting.. The staff are cordial and do not disturb unnecessarily.
Food is really good and i think it is one of the few places that have maintained the aroma and taste of southindian cusine... especially the sambhar ..
I have been a frequent visitor to this place and each time they have something special to offer.
Price is on higher side ....but worth..

@satiisshh"

"We had dinner here couple of times during our visit to India. Good variety of food. Try their Channa Batura - excellent Channa in authentic delhi style. The sizzlers are also pretty good. Pastas -Malfatti Napoli was awesome. Expect a long wait even on week days. Or, get there early, by 7:30 or so, you will be seated right away. Service can be a little sloppy given the crowd. The interiors simple and cozy. End your meal with the sizzling brownie fundae. The best dessert ever!! For the pictures,"
