IAS Prelims exam consists of two papers, (i) General Studies Paper I and, (ii) General Studies Paper II(CSAT). There is also negative marking for the wrong answers. 1/3rd marks assigned to that questions would be reduced as a penalty for wrong answers. It is mandatory that the candidate should appear for both the exams, General Studies and CSAT to qualify for the UPSC Main Exam.
The score obtained for the Prelims exam will not be added to the final score. This exam is for screening the candidate.
The question paper of Prelims is bilingual, it will carry questions written both in Hindi and English language.
There is a negative marketing of 1/3rd for every incorrect answers for both papers, General Studies and CSAT.
