Overview
THE BAROTTAS STORY! Just like our country and our culture, Barottas too have a rich legacy behind it. Barotta, Parotta, Porotta, Paratha, Parantha, Prota - many people call it by many names and many cultures have many ways of preparing it. Despite the differences in how they are called and prepared, one thing is most certainly common – the unmatched and unforgettable treat to our taste buds! Barottas are a cultural epitome when it comes to cuisine, not only in India but across Asia. There are many versions to the origins of Barottas and each version is right in its own rights. Believed to have been introduced by the Mughals, nurtured and loved by the Aryans and Dravidians, explored and embraced by the Austronesians – this yummy dish is a true ‘Unity in Diversity’! Today, while Burgers, Pizzas, Sandwiches, Pastas etc. are doing their rounds collecting as much fanfare as possible, our humble winner of hearts is amidst a lot of controversies than our very own celebrities. Unhygienic ways and the use of chemical bleached maida to prepare Barottas have garnered it a lot of negative attention including a PIL in High Court suggesting a ban on Barottas itself. Mr. Thilak Venkatasamy - our Founder, is a true blue Barotta lover who couldn’t and most importantly, wouldn’t see this iconic dish vanish! Thanks to his relentless pursuit and never give-up attitude, his brainchild www.barottas.com is the most loved reality today! At Barottas, we offer the ever tasty Barottas in a more hygienic and convenient way. We don’t use maida! We use a special, imported all purpose flour to prepare our Barottas. Our speciality is our variety! From Madurai to Malaysia, from traditional Coin Barottas to exquisite Roti Canais, we offer over 20 varieties of Barottas from all over the world along with various other traditional and authentic cuisines. We don’t always love what we eat but we will always eat what we love. We love Barottas! It’s about time we shared our love for Barottas with the world! Bon appétit! Oops, sorry, Vayiraara Saapidunga!
