"Bono Sleep ( https://www.bonobed.com/ ) is a sleep technology venture, started by Dr. Mayank Pahwa, that’s dreaming its way to success. Our flagship product is a precisely & passionately engineered, astonishingly comfortable mattress. Its proprietary sleep surface was developed in-house in Boston using human centered design by clocking in more than 5,200 hours of testing. It has a gorgeous design, and is delivered in a small box. It enables and improves Deep Sleep activity (Slow Wave Activity) & REM sleep. No bells. No whistles. Pure science that feels (& looks) great! It was during Dr. Mayank’s residency at New York Medical College that he would review patient’s sleep studies quite frequently. And as a doctor, he understood lack of sleep really is a public health crisis- people are sleeping less & less every day; 1 hour less of sleep increases mortality risk by 10%, 2 hours less increases risk of heart attacks by 45%. During research we found how critical is sleep surface (mattress) really is in getting a good night of sleep. However, when he went out looking for a product that can solve this problem- he found everyone is selling bells & whistles and there was lack of core functionality in products & gap in product design methodology where brain activity during sleep was never a consideration. We studied material science of mattress and understood the deficiencies in material science that prevent people from getting sufficient Deep Sleep, REM Sleep, and Total Sleep. We used human-centered design to understand what people want and develop a sleep surface that really enables & promotes neurophysiology. This is how Bono Sleep was born. We are very deeply & profoundly committed to improve sleep and creating the perfect mattress is the first step in this direction. "
