Mahatma Gandhi Inter College Bank Road Gorakhpur

On the land of Baba Gorakhnath in the 20th century the idea for a planned High School level School conceived in mind of few intellectuals of the City. Some great Citizens of Gorakhpur formed High School Gorakhpur Society on 6th December 1909 and laid the foundation of a Vidyalaya in a rented building with 22 students. The Gorakhpur High School Society was registered in the year 1911. The development of main building of school took place in 1913 by the hand of the Magistrate Mr.Joseph Simpson and the building was named as Ishwari Manzil. Gradually school progressed with efforts and endeavour of its founders. In a resolution on 6th February 1948, it was decided that the name of school on last Ceremony day (Shraddha Divas) i.e. 12th of february 1948 would be Mahatma Gandhi Inter College and name of society would be National Educational Society. Later the school has seen sound and rapid progress and Mahatma Gandhi Post Graduate College came in existence in the year 1969.In the Course of it's academic Journey, the M.G. Inter College, a mother Institution gave rise to some other Institutions. They are the Mahatma Gandhi Degree College, founded in 1969 due to the tireless striving of the Secretary Late B.N. Chandra and our most reverent Late Har Narayanji, Ram Narayan Lal Girls Inter College, founded in 1989 by the untiring efforts of our Late Prakash Narayan Srivastava, the Secretary of M.G. Inter College and the Prakash Narayan Institute of Computer Technology, founded on August 10,2002 due to the foresight ,zeal and efforts of our present Secretary of the National Educational Society and Manager of the M.G. Inter College-Hon. Mankeshwar Nath Pandey. The college managing body foresees to open a Para Medical Institute, a Management Institute along with a Public school for the nursery students. We also believe that ours will be the only college in Purvanchal, which will provide computer Education to all of its students. We also plan to extend our computer Education up to B.C.A. and M.C.A getting it affiliated to some well-known University.
