Mrs.Srithi R.Kannan started SKILARC ( Originally Swayam Krithi Learning And Resource Center ) in the year 1996. I have a B.Sc., Degree, a certificate as a Special Educator from the Spastic Society of india, a Diploma as a Special Educator from the Bharathi Vidya Bhavan and the Spastic Society of Karnataka,a Diploma in Counselling and a Certificate as a Spoken English trainer. This enables me to give the services as a Special Educator, Counsel Parents, Teachers and students as required. My love for children and my own incapabilities to study even after being given the best of opportunities had made me realise the importance of education and belonging to a highly educated family consisting of a father who had many degrees,who worked as a pilot with the RAF and later went on to become a Director of a group of companies,a mother who had finished Montessori training under Madam Montessori and studied under Rabindranath Tagore at Shanthi Niketan. I also have two elder sisters,one a language trainer with P.hd and M.phil degrees and a doctor sister who is renowned worldwide as the first women neurologist and neuro surgeon in Asia. This made me feels very inadequate and instigated me to educate myself somemore. Eventhough I was tied down by family limitations, I felt my incapabilities and wanted to improve on them.I realized that without education one cannot achieve their ambitions.
