Tamilnadu Investor Association was formed in 1989 by Late Mr.K.Kannan, founder and President for the purpose of educating the small investors, protecting the interests of investors and thus making investors a Smart Investor. It is the first investor Association Registered / Recognized by SEBI. TIA is registered under The Societies Registration Act of Tamilnadu. TIA is governed by an elected "Committee of Members"The present situation for the consumer/investors resulting in continuing fragmentation of the regulatory structure reinforces the need for an integrated regulatory and supervisory structure and, in particular, the need for a single, strong, effective, self-regulatory organization that will operate on a national basis and in which membership will be compulsory for all who provide investment advisory and financial planning services to the public.
