Datt Maternity and Surgical Home was established in 1960 through the efforts of Dr M. B. Inamdar and Dr (Mrs.) S. M. Inamdar. The hospital was one of the pioneers in the area when the municipal limit of Bombay did not extend to Goregaon. It quickly became a well-accepted Hospital, reputed for its Quality Maternity Service at an affordable cost. The Hospital services included mainly maternity services with most of the gynaecological (non-pregnant) services. When in 1982, Dr B. M. Inamdar joined as Consulting Gynaecologist, hospital services expanded rapidly. Gynaecological surgeries become more and more prominent. New endoscopic service was started for the infertile patients with an added advantage for patients wanting family planning and patients complaining of pain. Most of the gynaecological surgeries are performed now through endoscopy, ever since Dr B. M. Inamdar learnt the skills in Germany in 1994-95 under Prof. Kurt Semm, “Father of Modern Endoscopic Gynecological Surgeries”. In subsequent years Dr. (Mrs.) Inamdar - Gynaecologist, Dr Shashank Inamdar -Pathologist, Dr. (Mrs.) Manjiri Inamdar- Anaesthetist joined, and Hospital become a truly integrated Hospital with most of the facilities related to Obstetrics and Gynaecology under one roof. Many newer facilities, like state of the art Boyles Apparatus, Pulse Oximeter, etc. were added leading to the Hospital becoming a modern and well equipped Hospital in the area. At no stage, however, charges for these facilities were exorbitant. In fact, the hospital continued to earn the reputation as a hospital where reliable and modern treatment was given at affordable cost, success rate and utmost transparency. Today, after spending 56 years of committed community service, the hospital is being patronised by a discerning clientele, many of whom are in the hospital for two or three generations. In fact, the Hospital derives its strength from these patients and is ever willing to give every possible assistance, both financial and medical, to its long-term clients. Labour Room- Well equipped with radiant heat warmer, neonatal resuscitation trolley and Double Unit Phototherapy.
