The method has a double barrel advantage – incorporating fun and ensuring a quicker learning process by handling equipments. A pre-school is an extension of home – called the third environment. It is an institution enrolling children younger than six years of age to provide educational experiences under professionally qualified teachers, in cooperation with parents during the year(s) immediately preceding kindergarten (or before entry into the elementary school where there is no kindergarten). The pre-school classrooms allow the child the freedom to choose their work from among the self-correcting materials displayed on an open-shelf and to work in a specific work area. Over a period, the children develop into a normalised community, working with high concentration and few interruptions. Normalisation is the process whereby a child moves from being indiscipline to self-disciplined from disordered to ordered, from distracted to focused, through work in the environment. The process occurs through repeated action with materials that captivate the child’s attention.
