being a bong was never interested in bengali food unless dad took us the other day to this place... to my surprise i never loved bengali food so much ever before this... not much fond of fish as i dont eat when its been cooked at home... but here i just gulped a few fish cutlets and chops... then had called for a ilish maach in sorcher jhol which was just too tasty... must say tht bengali food also tastes good

Oh! Calcutta was referred to me by a friend who was absolutely in love with this restaurant after her first visit. Seeing her enthusiasm, I decided to give it a try too. The ambience at Oh! Calcutta is quiet and cosy. There isn't anything spectacular about it and looks like any other good restaurant. Going by my friend's suggestions I tried out a dish called Daab Chingri. It was a delicious prawn curry cooked in coconut cream. The thing that impressed me the most about this dish was that it was served in a coconut shell. I also tried out Ilish freshwater fish curry. I am not fond of freshwater fish very much, but the curry was good nevertheless. Oh! Calcutta also serves these unique chutneys and I quite liked the Tomato & Date one. Overall, I had a pleasant experience as far as the food was concerned. The service was okay, but I found the food to be a bit overpriced as compared to the quantity. Otherwise, Oh! Calcutta is a good place for a pleasant Bengali meal.
